Moonshadow is our first yacht. She is 49ft (13.1m) overall and is a fibreglass cutter rigged sloop. Built in Taiwan in 1984 to a Ron Ami Design, her original name was 'Rogue River', and was delivered to the USA.
She was purchased by Stephen and Jaquie Gloor in San Diego and refitted to a very high standard to serve on an extended blue water cruise through the pacific. Stephen and Jaquie renamed her 'Moonshadow' and cruised for about 6 years visiting exotic islands, including New Zealand! They decided to swallow the anchor after reaching Brisbane in 2006.
We had been searching for a blue water cruiser in Fremantle for some years when Margie found Moonshadow advertised on the net. After receiving lots of information and photographs we decided to fly to Brisbane and inspect her.
We fell in love with her. She was everything we were looking for and in fantastic, well maintained condition. They say that when looking at yachts its not so much you choosing the yacht but the yacht choosing you! We fell under the spell of Moonshadow immediately. As a bonus, Stephen and Jaquie were the most welcoming and caring owners and did everything they could to assist us throughout the purchase procedure.
Once the paperwork was all done, we sailed out of Brisbane, over the top to Fremantle. We have lived on Moonshadow at Fremantle Sailing Club for the past 6 years and now the time has come for us to commence our own adventures on the good ship Moonshadow.
We cast off the lines on the 12th April 2014, leaving Fremantle and heading north for adventures yet to be written.
Some nice pics, keep it up old chap, not bad for a happy snapper
