About Us

This page is called 'About Us'.

How do you put meat on the bones of this page?

Jeremy is defined by his passions of photography, playing music, astronomy and of course cruising on Moonshadow.

Having run a large commercial photography studio, the last few years has seen Jeremy working in photojournalism and enjoying the creative freedom that that provided. Photography has always been a major part of Jeremy's life, buying a twin lens reflex camera at an auction for 5 shillings at the age of ten and setting up his own darkroom at 11.

Astronomy and cosmology has always been an intense fascination and the intersection of astronomy and photography in the technically demanding, astrophotography saw Jeremy buying a 10 inch Schmidt Cassegrain telescope and setting up his own observatory. After building his own digital astrophotography camera and pursuing the astrophotography, Jeremy was offered the chance to manage the newly installed observatory at Trinity College, in East Perth.

It was while working as an Observatory Manager for Trinity College that Jeremy completed his degree in Astronomy at Swinburne University and also became fascinated with the idea of 'the cruising lifestyle'. Once the decision had been made that this was the direction we wanted to go, the quote attributed to Mark Twain seemed so appropriate that it was firmly fixed to the wall:

"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover."

Music is another passion and nothing gives greater pleasure than singing and playing guitar with Margie on keyboard, in our little band called Moonshadow.
